Tensions were high when two Illinois’ top basketball programs, Whitney Young (10-4) and Orr (9-2), stepped on the court together.

Ranked 12th in the DigitalSports National Basketball Rankings, Young’s losses came in down to the wire games against other top ranked teams.  Orr, coming into the game with a five-game win streak, won this matchup last season with a buzzer beater shot and looked to expanded on that momentum.

From the opening tipoff, Whitney Young’s Jahlil Okafor and Paul White dominated.  The 6-foot-11 Okafor lead the scoring with 24 points, 14 rebounds, and three blocks.  At 6-foot-9, White marked 18 points of his own, complimented with eight rebounds and two blocks.  Miles Reynolds added on 12 points to the Dolphins tally.

While dominating on offensive, Whitney Young managed to stun Orr’s attack, permitting a comfortable lead throughout most of the game.  By the final whistle, the Dolphins lead 69-58.

Whitney Young now get a five day break until they face Oak Hill Academy, ranked 4th in the nation, for a chance to prove that they can take down the nation’s best teams and try to break through the Top 10.

Key Players:

Jahlil Okafor- 24 points, 14 rebounds, 3 blocks

Paul White- 18 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks
